Date: | 1977-08-10 |
Location: | London, England, UK - Pathway Studios |
Attendees: | The Police, John Cale |
The Police record at Pathway Studios again - this time with John Cale as producer. They recorded an early version of Dead End Job with alternate lyrics and arrangement, plus two vocal takes of Visions Of The Night - a combination of those 2 vocal takes was later used on the Walking On The Moon 7"-single.
Vocal Take 1 featured alternate lyrics, whilst Vocal Take 2 featured the same lyrics as the authorised version. Both versions also featured a guitar solo right at the begining of both vocal takes, which was later removed when it appeared as a B-side to the 1979 7"-single.
John Cale was drunk and reading the papers most of the time. Sting was quite upset...
John didn't like Andy Summers - so he wanted Henry Padovani to do the guitar solos which Andy didn't accept.. In the end John said that Andy should do the solos with Henry's guitar.
