According to the books ‘Babylon’s Burning’ and "Midge Ure, If I Was...: The Autobiography" The Police were supported by "The Rich Kids" instead of "Neo".
Formed in 1977 by ex-Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock "The Rich Kids" tried to convince Midge Ure to join in the summer of 1977. They offered their services and had Midge singing for a few songs, but as the gig didn't go well he declined to join as their singer (he joined later, though).
