Trivia
Stewart Copeland and Anne Nightingale had flown from Bombay to Cairo on this day with stops in Dubai and Qatar.
The band's equipment for this show got stuck in customs. For assistance Miles Copeland reached out to Col. Hasan Tuhami—then Vice Prime Minister of Egypt and former "machine gun toting bodyguard" to Egyptian president Gamal Abdul Nasser—who had been a neighbor to the Copeland family in Egypt and whom Miles had befriended as a child.[1]
Because of the delay with customs, there was no time for a soundcheck. The concert started at 9.30 pm instead of the scheduled 8.00 pm. There were approximately 1100 people in attendance at this concert. During the show Sting got in trouble with a police agent.
