Quotations and Trivia

No exact concert dates with Sting are known - in the November 28, 1973 issue Courier mentions that the band plays Tuesday evenings at the Piccolo Restaurant in Gosforth

The same student newspaper mentions that Tuesday is also the day to see the Phoenix Jazzmen at the Hawthorn Inn in Benwell.

Newcastle Evening Chronicle - December 13 1975 - report about Vieux Carre Jazzmen and River City Jazzmen : line-up includes Pete Gascoigne, and (since last year) clarinettist Steve Andrews - trying to persuade Clive Gray to set aside the banjo and switch to guitar for mainstream nmbers---- a concert at the Post House in Washington "tomorrow" ------- the fact that Sting mentions another clarinettist might mean that STing played with them in an EARLIER period (Steve Andrews was already a aband member on Feb 21 1975)

Another date 1976-02-12 at Diamond, Ponteland - (Newcastle Evening Chronicle - February 7). Another date for them 1976-03-09 at the Golden Lion Winlaton Mill (Newcastle Evening Chronicle - March 6, 1976) and 1976-03-11 at Diamond, Ponteland (same source)

Another concert date for the Vieux Carre Jazzmen would be 1976-06-29 at the Guildhall.
