About the song
After his father bought a "The Brothers Of Barbados" record during a holiday in the Caribbean, producer David Wood asked Last Exit to record one of their songs and paid the band a session fee.
The song 9th Avenue (Put On Your Wings And Fly) was recorded on 1975-09-15 or soon afterwards (note on 8 track tape).
As only 8 tracks could be recorded at Impulse Studios the two vocal takes were recorded on a separate reel and then transferred into a single channel. Drums, acoustic and electric guitar, electric piano, bass and vocals were mixed into a stereo a track. Three additional saxophone parts were recorded later.
