Recording information

There's a recording of this concert.

Two songs were also broadcast on MTV from this concert so it is more than likely that a video of the whole concert exists.

Trivia

There was an after show party at the "Level One" Club in Neasden Lane.

The technical aspects of this concert were described in "International Musician And Recording World" from March 1984 by Jim Betteridge:

Lights were provided by the British company Tasco and Showco from the USA - with 29 of their Varilites. Above the stage was a square lighting grid with suspended 1kW Par Cans, Ray lights and four Telescans. Twenty eight way banks of Mole Fays spots were facing the audience; a number of American strobe lights were at the rear of the stage.

The PA came from Clair Brothers - with Trip Khalaf overseeing the system. The sound was mixed by Kim Turner on a special Clair Brothers design: it had 32 into six stereo subgroups into two, with three band parametric EQ, four sends, six stereo returns and 100 segment plasma display metering.

Three separate racks featured the processing equipment. The effects rack featured a dbx 900 system with four gates and four compressors, a Lexicon 224 (mainly for vocals and kit), a Lexicon Super Prime Time (mainly for repeat effects), a H949 Eventide Harmonizer and some dbx 165 compressors.

The house crossover rack took the desk's stereo output into a pair of Klark Teknik DN27A graphics, then going through a Clair in-house three way crossover into three stereo dbx 160 compressors plus three stereo 162 compressors.

The auxiliary rack drove the sub bass system - holding a LPF and a White 1/3-octave equalizer set up to act as a LPF. Everything below 100Hz was pushed to the maximum and everything above was pulled right out.

The speaker system consisted of 48 S4 units and 12 sub bass units. The sub bass units and 16 S4s were at stag level. The S4 featured JBL drivers: 2"x18" front loaded, 4"x10" front loaded and 2 x 2441 passively crossed over to 2 x 2405 all driven by Phase Linear amps.

The sub bass units had JBL 18's, driven by Crown PSA2's - using the same sized cabs as the S4's only with extra porting.
