About the song
This was one of the earliest songs Sting co-wrote for The Police. Stewart Copeland provided the music, Sting the lyrics. It was already performed in early 1977 when Andy Summers was not yet a member of the band.
They recorded the song for Outlandos d'Amour, but it was it left off the record (as after Miles Copeland heard Roxanne the musical direction for the LP changed).
A master tape features the version that was later to become the b-side of Message In A Bottle - with a tiny difference: right at the start you hear Andy Summers turn up the volume on his guitar.
A live version recorded at The Bottom Line on 1979-04-04 was also officially released.
Personnel
- Sting - bass and vocals
- Stewart Copeland - drums
- Andy Summers - guitar
