Trivia
During the soundcheck Sting changed the lyrics of Every Breath You Take: "oh can't you see - my dog has fleas" ...
While The Police were giving one of many interviews Stewart Copeland and Sting got into a fight over a newspaper. Falling onto the stage floor Stewart accidentally broke one of Sting's ribs. Sting noticed this a few days later.
There were 67.000 people in the audience.
While playing Shea Stadium Sting decided to stop playing with The Police, because this overwhelming event was as far as the band could possibly go.
There was an aftershow party which went until about 4am the next day.
The BBC films interviews including the fight(which appears staged), the soundcheck including the re-working of Every Breath, and at least parts of the actual concert. These are broadcast during it's Breakfast Time show and the weekly Entertainment USA show.
