It's not sure if [[The Police]] played one or two concerts in Paris, or any concert at all. Several books follow [[The Police: A Visual Documentary by Miles]]' information that [[The Police]] played here tonight. This night [[Sting]] supposedly walked through the red light district and had the idea for [[Roxanne]]. Literature mentions that there was ONE Nashville concert - but there's a ticket for both bands for a concert at the Nashville - this is for [[1977-10-21]]. And there's an ad in Rock & Folk (November 1977 issue) with an ad for both nights + an ad for a third concert in France (Lyon, [[Palais d'Hiver]] on [[1977-10-23]]).

When [[The Police]] arrived in Paris they checked into a flea-ridden hotel behind the Gare Saint-Lazare. In the foyer, [[Sting]] noticed a poster for a Comédie Française production of Cyrano de Bergerac.... Later [[Sting]] passed an alley full of prostitutes, some quite young. In his hotel room at night he combined these impressions to: "Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light..."

Trivia

Of three planned French concerts together with Wayne County & The Electric Chairs The Police only played this one today.

On that same night Sting supposedly walked through the red light district and had the idea for Roxanne.

As Wayne County's drummer J.J. Johnson remembers, the tour promoter was not pleased with this Paris gig and cancelled the 2nd Paris gig on 1977-10-21 and the one in Lyon on 1977-10-23 (plus some forthcoming Italy gigs).
