Sting probably watched the "Bronco" TV show in Newcastle
Photo or image related to event
Date: 1961-09-23
Location: Newcastle, England, UK
Attendees: Sting, Kevin

Sting was probably in Newcastle, England, UK - watching TV with his mate Kevin.

This is based on a Sting memory from L'Historia Bandido with complications: "I was watching television with my mate Kevin one night and Bronco Lane was on. In this episode Tenderfoot (hero of another cowboy series) turned up for a guest appearance. But Tenderfoot was on the other channel at the same time and Kevin said to me 'How can he be on both sides at once?'..."

Simple enough as it seems, but there are two times the "Bronco" episode "Yankee Tornado" (the one with guest star Will Hutchins as Tom 'Sugarfoot' Brewster - alternatively called "Tenderfoot" in the UK) was aired...

Now one only has to find the day when another channel broadcast a "Tenderfoot" episode, right ?

Today at 7:15 PM that "Bronco" episode aired on the BBC, but a "Tenderfoot" episode would be broadcast by the BBC on September 24, 1961 -- one day AFTER the "Bronco" episode,

However at the same time "Bronco" was running on the BBC the show "Cheyenne" was broadcast on TTT. Sadly the Newcastle Journal and Newcastle Evening Chronicle don't mention the episode name, but Will Hutchins DID play Sugarfoot / Tenderfoot in one episode "Duel at Judas Basin" (other English newspapers show that several UK channels broadcast "Cheyenne" episodes today, but none was the one featuring Sugarfoot / Tenderfoot).

On February 25, 1962 at 5:25 PM that "Bronco" episode was re-broadcast on the BBC --- TTT showed anything but a western series at the same time...

There are more clues for today as the right day for Sting's memories than for the 1962 broadcast date - the fact that a western show WAS broadcast at the same time on another channel and Sting's "one night" comment which fits the later 7:15 PM time of the day...
