Biography
Kim Turner left school aged 15 and met the Copelands through his oldest brother who played in Wishbone Ash (which Miles Copeland managed).
He played drums in various bands, among them was Cat Iron - with Stewart Copeland being an artistic director.
In 1977 Kim didn't enjoy being a musician anymore - he returned to London catching up with the Copelands at Miles' house while Miles and Stewart were packing Fall Out singles into their sleeves. Kim started to work for Miles - looking after unexperienced punk groups and putting tours together. He then managed The Cortinas. When they split.
Miles hired Kim as the road manager for The Police in time for their first US tour. In this period he learned about sound mixing, too, and he eventually became the sound mixer for the band.
Kim even supported The Police for one time (on 1983-10-10). He later worked in Sting's management until Sting ended the collaboration in 1998. Shortly before his death at age 46 Sting visited him again.
He can also be heard singing backing vocals on Stewart Copeland's and Brian James' first single.
