Production
The video was shot in mid-August 1987 on the rugged Sonoma coast of Northern California at various locations along Highway 1. The 3 day shoot took place high above the Pacific Ocean atop the rocky cliffs and along the backroads of rural Sonoma county.
The city locations were filmed during a 2 day shoot in the old industrial section of downtown Los Angeles along the Spring Street Bridge.
Another day was spent doing close-up photography of Sting in a music studio.
The video mixed live-action photography with animation and used stop-motion, still photography and drawings.
