Introduction

This is the equipment Sting used at the 2nd Rockpalast concert in Essen, Germany on 1980-10-18.

Gear breakdown

Basses:

  • During the Rockpalast concert, Sting is playing the new red Fender Precision bass, fretless, that became his main bass for most of the 1980 tour. This bass was made in approx. 1979.
  • H van Zalinge Electric Stand-Up Bass with case
  • During the Musikladen concert, Sting is playing the natural Fender Precision fretless bass. He appears to have acquired it around the same time as the red Precision.

Amplifiers and Cabinets:

  • Bass Horn with two 15" Electro Voice speakers
  • Bass cabinet with two 15" Electro Voice bass speakers + two EV tweeters
  • Bass cabinet with 6 12" Electro Voice speaker
  • Gauss radial horn
  • Crown Power Amplifier Model DC300
  • two Crown "self analyzing" amplifiers
  • For the Musikladen concert Sting has at least 1 Ampeg SVT bass amp setup onstage.
