After Bob Geldof's success with the Band Aid charity single Do They Know It's Christmas? he organized THE charity concert event - to take place on 1985-07-13 in London's Wembley Stadium and Philadelphia's JFK Stadium. The performances in both stadiums were broadcast on TV all around the world and raised money for the suffering African continent.

Parts of those performances were released on a DVD set in 2004.
