Attendees: The Police, Nigel Gray, Miles Copeland

The Police are mixing and recording vocals at Surrey Sound Studios in Leatherhead, England, UK.

The only other entry in Stewart Copeland's diary for today is a dinner at Nigel Gray's place.

Broken Music describes this event (but the book is not very precise with some dates):

Miles Copeland enters the studio with the very first outlines of a contract with A&M for Roxanne and an idea for the new album title: Outlandos d'Amour.

After laying down the basic tracks as described on 1978-01-15 the band later added vocals to the songs and at some point in January played them for Miles, who got excited by Roxanne. He called Stewart the next day to confirm A&M's interest and presented the band with the early draft of the contract today.
