The Police are at Surrey Sound Studios in Leatherhead, England, UK.
Miles Copeland enters the studio with the very first outlines of a contract with A&M for Roxanne and an idea for the new album title: Outlandos d'Amour.
After laying down the basic tracks as described on 1978-01-13 the band later added vocals to the songs and at some point in January played them for Miles, who got excited by Roxanne. He called Stewart the next day to confirm A&M's interest and presented the band with the early draft of the contract today.
