Band history

According to Crescendo (December 1962 issue) Andy Summers played at the Majestic Hotel with the Cyril Stewart Band.

An internet page lists an almost identical band, but mentions Jack Horwood as a member (he was a drummer). Andy had to play “The Twist” and Shadows songs, also waltzes, foxtrots and tangos. Band leader Cyril Stewart fired Andy after an intimate encounter with one of the hotel's guests. Andy's replacement was Robert Fripp.

Band members

  • Cyril Stewart - double bass
  • Alan Melly
  • Andy Summers - guitar
  • Don Hardyman - piano
