Introduction
Sting bought the Fender Fretless Precision on 1978-10-21 at Manny's in New York. It became his main bass up until June 1979, when he switched to the 1979 Ibanez Musician MC 900DS Fretless bass. The Fender Fretless Precision returned for the 1980-1981 Zenyatta Mondatta Tour.
Gear breakdown
Sting changed the tuning machines between May 3 and May 10, 1979.
Sting gave the original bass case to... in mid-1980, because of a broken lock.
For the 1980-1981 Zenyatta Mondatta Tour the bass was painted red.
It made another appearance for the 1987 Kirin Can Beer print ads and TV commercials.
