About the song

Stewart Copeland remembers writing this song in his head while driving home from Surrey Sound Studios in his yellow Cortina (i.e. in rather early The Police days).

The Police attempted to record it for Ghost In The Machine, but the song was soon abandoned. Stewart counts in, sings the main vocals and plays probably most (if not all) of the guitar parts, maybe except for a quieter part that sounds like a guitar synth. There's a higher backing vocal that's probably Sting.

In 1985 Stewart Copeland worked together with Derek Holt for the Droids project. They recorded this tune at Stewart's The Worried Rabbit home studio in Buckinghamshire.

Live! For Life lyrics

There was an ambush in the park
Left me standing, took my heart
A sudden look and a feeling of surprise
The girl I knew had changed before my eyes

So where can I learn about love
Where can I learn how to touch her
Where can I learn about love
Where can I learn how to hold her

She'll want some guy who's grown up and cool
They never taught me 'bout that in school
I had to touch her so I threw her in the pool
Now everybody knows that I'm her fool

Where can I learn about love
Where can I learn how to touch her
Where can I learn about love
Where can Iearn how to hold her
Hold her...
Hold her...
Hold her...

Instead of lessons in French and Maths
I gotta learn about romance
I know so much but girls are hard to understand

So where can I learn about love
Where can I learn how to touch her
Where can I learn about love
Where can I learn how to hold her
Hold her...
Hold her...
Hold her...

So where can I learn about love
Where can I learn how to hold her
Where can I learn about love
Where can I learn how to touch her
Hold her...
Touch her...
Hold her...
Hold her...
Hold her...
Hold her
Touch her...
Touch... her...
