Stewart Copeland demo
Stewart Copeland's demo is not featured on the Synchronicity box set that was released on 2024-07-26. All the main ingredients are already in place, except that the middle part is very short and doesn't feature a guitar solo.
Instrumental outtake
There also an alternate instrumental version played by The Police that's also not featured on the box set. The structure is identical to the LP version, but it's a completely different take.
Alternate Mix
The Synchronicity box set features an Alternate Mix of the well known song from the LP that was done by Hugh Padgham at AIR Studios on 1983-01-10. It's 2:00 minutes long - there are only a few tiny differences:
The first notes of the guitar solo are missing. But there are some additional guitar sounds in the parts after the solo. The end is also slightly different: the LP version ends with the vocals on "us", whereas in this earlier mix the instruments can still be heard after the "us".
