Introduction
I Burn For You was recorded by The Police in the summer of 1981 on Montserrat.
How Stupid Mr. Bates and A Kind Of Loving were recorded by The Police on 1982-01-28.
Sting recorded the vocals for Spread A Little Happiness and Only You on 1982-03-01.
The main recording for Spread A Little Happiness had been done in late February at Abbey Road Studios - with Andy Summers on guitar and Sting on vocals, playing with an orchestra. In an interview from 1986-01-27 he mentions working there for a few nights from around 11PM until 5AM.
Jeff Seitz had played drums to a Sting demo while he was filming at Shepperton Studios - probably in December 1981.
Further recording may have taken place at Abbey Road Studios in February / March 1982. Michael Nyman orchestrated music, Eric Tomlinson recorded / mixed.
