Later that day Sting will buy Fender Fretless Precision bass at Manny's.
This night a string on his normal fretted Fender bass will break and Sting will play his new fretless bass for the very first time.
(The story of the fretless bass is told in International Musician - July 1979. Here Sting refers to a CBGB's gig in November 1978. But - as a photo shows - he already played the fretless bass in Toronto 1978. There was no time to buy the bass yesterday, so today seems to be the right date for this purchase...)
