For this TV special Sting went back to Ken Kiernan's Keystone Studios in Dublin, Ireland, where they had previously recorded demos for Zenyatta Mondatta. They overdubbed and remixed the original live tapes. A lot of material from Police In The East was later edited with further recordings from the 1980-1981 Zenyatta Mondatta Tour for the Around The World video release.

The TV special was first broadcast on 1980-10-10 at 7:30PM on BBC 2 in the UK.
