About the song

This song was recorded in spring 1978 in a North London studio. On the first edition of this single (a limited pressing of 500 singles on Virgin Records - NO NUKE 235) the band is called "Fast Breeder And The Radio Actors". This single was released with a lyric sheet and was quickly sold out at antinuclear protests in London in April 1978. Sting is only singing on the track Nuclear Waste, not on the B-side.

The single was later re-issued on Charly Records and DB Records and in some other countries...

Lyrics

Nuclear Waste - we don't want that
Nuclear Waste - we don't need that
Nuclear Waste - we've got to leave this Nuclear age behind
in our time

A faste breeder breaks all the rules
gives us something for nothing - that ain't true
and who makes the profit? - not me and you
And who takes the risks? - we all do!

Nuclear Waste - we don't want that
Nuclear Waste - but we can't get rid of that
Nuclear Waste - you're hoping we'll get used to it
Nuclear Waste - I've had enough of it.

Do you find it attractive to be radioactive emitting killing rays?
Splitting your atoms with a fission reaction transmitting out of phase?

Strontium 90 - Strontium 90
I wanna live to see 1999

There's enough energy in the air and in the sea
To give us power to live in peace and harmony

Nuclear Waste - we don't get used to your
Nuclear Waste - ultimate pollution
Nuclear Waste - produces mutation
Nuclear Waste - it's not evolution
Nuclear Waste - you know the solution
New Killer Waste - better active today
New Killer Waste - than radioactive tomorrow
New Killer Waste- need a cure for cancer?
New Killer Waste- need the real answer
New Killer Waste- fusion not fission
New Killer Waste- let me put my arms around your
Nuclear Waste - damaging my lettuces
Nuclear Waste - jamming my transmission
Nuclear Waste - damaging my vision
Nuclear Waste
