Keystone Studios
the studio building in 2019 - now called "Cliff Townhouse"
Location: Dublin, Ireland - 22 St Stephen's Green
Years in operation: YYYY - YYYY

Sting recorded demos for Zenyatta Mondatta at Keystone Studios after composing the songs at his house in Roundstone (where he lived for tax reasons) in the early summer of 1980.

There's a 1/4" 12" Reel 15IPS A&M London Safety Copy Master Tape dated July 30, 1980 - which contains the following Sting demos:

  1. When The World Is Running Down
  2. Don't Stand So Close To Me
  3. Demolition Man
  4. De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da
  5. Man In A Suitcase
  6. I Burn For You
  7. Canary In A Coalmine
  8. Shadows In The Rain
  9. Voices Inside My Head
  10. Walking Down Queensway

Songs 2-7 and the first half of song 8 somehow escaped from the vaults, but are still not in common circulation.

Andy Summers also used this studio - probably in late September / early October 1980.

Police In The East overdubs and mixing were also done at Keystone Studios.

History

Other artists who recorded here were U2, John Martyn and The Waterboys.
