Help me - help me make my money back
Help me - get me off the money rack
Help me - put me off the rail track
Help me - before I have a heart attack

... customs
...
the inland revenue

they name (?) it
they claim it
they take it all from you

Help me - just given up smoking
Help me - given up drinking
Help me - do a lot of hoping (?)
Help me - I'm having difficulty thinking

... customs
...
the inland revenue

they name it
they claim it
they take it all from you

the VATman
the taxman
they'll make a fool of you

they'll mark you
they mock you (?)
they'll break your heart in two

don't hit me
sitting on a time bomb
...

Help me - feel a little sick now
Help me - makes you wanna spit
Help me - ...
Help me - tell me it's a nightmare

... customs
...
the inland revenue

they name it
they claim it
they take it all from you

the VATman
the taxman
they'll make a fool of you

they'll mark you
they mock you (?)
they'll break your heart in two

... customs
...
the inland revenue

they name it
they claim it
they take it all from you

the VATman
the taxman
they'll make a fool of you

they'll mark you
they mock you (?)
they'll break your heart in two

Quotations and trivia

Gary Tibbs talked about a song he remembered as "The Vatman" in Guitar Heroes magazine from July 1983, also mentioning the musicians. An Andy Bown interview in an official Status Quo fan club magazine provides the real song's name and confirms Stewart Copeland's participation.
