  • Sting in "The Beat" t-shirt at Area night club Sci-Fi in the corridor party - photos developed by B. Buchanan (saved e-mail!) on February 13, so the party was probably in the week before (Sting was in London on Feb. 11 for the awards) -- the club was open from Wednesday to Saturday - that would mean Feb 6-9 are possible dates for this !

There's also a photo of Sting pouring a bottle of beer over scientist (inventor of the cordless guitar among others) Kenny Schaffer's head at that venue (dated in a magazine as "February" as well.

Kenny took Sting up to his sky lab to watch a Russian symphony perform 'Porgy and Bess'.

more about Russians from report from March 18, 1985 by David H. Van Biema: "But the visit that has tickled the inventor the most in recent weeks was the one from Sting. The rock star took in a few hours of viewing in preparation for a Soviet trip and felt inspired to pen a new song, Do Russians Love Their Children Too? Schaffer was elated. Not only had the visit neatly tied up the two halves of his career, but it thrills him, he says, that “one of the world’s greatest communicators” has been moved to art by his invention."

3/4 tape of Tony Mills says JULY 1985 !! August (Tony) / mid-September-early October (Brian) Tony: August 1985. I have a 3/4” take of him talking as we drove him to an interview with Red Beard (a radio dj) he asked if we could get him some pot. No machines to play it on though... 3/4” videotape The band was The Mad Daddies from Tulsa, OK Redbeard – a member of the Polo Club was murdered the night before the Polo match – in the parking lot of the Stoneleigh Hotel where HardRockCafe co-founder Isaac Tigrett had a cocktail reception for Stewart. Charity event the next day. Brian: murder was an armed robbery in the parking lot of the Stoneleigh Pea across the street from the hotel, victim computer business owner from Flower Mound, TX Brian – mid-September – mid-October – Stewart in town for about 3 days with 3 other friends / polo players for the UK – probably arriving on Friday / leaving early on Monday, best guess Sept.13 and Oct. 11. He came back the next year as well in the same time period. The connection was my dad Buzz who was a Polo pro and owned the polo club in Flower Mound about 20 miles north of Dallas. He gave Copeland some polo lessons in the UK I believe when he was just starting. Tony & Brian: party at Isaac Tigrett’s penthouse in 1986 (!) with paraphernalia that would later go to HardRockCafes Tony: playing “Secret Agent Man” Brian: Message ? maybe Walking ? Tony: Message, yes. 3 or 4 songs Tony: 1985 – playing in the stables (bw pic by Laura Baker, now Stanton) Plano, TX, polo after party Brian: that was Flower Mound, TX Tony: 1986 – playing on trailer outside, the broom ball game at the mall The broom ball game was at the Galleria Mall. Opened at midnight just for us., penthouse party at Isaac’s (1986, cause Loreen was there) Brian Just remembered that Tommy Lee Jones was there as well. Copeleand was the big star and he was just some Hollywood guy. 30 years on I'd say it would be a complete 180. Tony She was always kind of a bitch anyways.. but she was and is a beautiful woman Yeah Tommy Lee smokes all my cigs and then suggested I leave to get more. When I came back he and Laura were gone and we didn’t see her again that night Brian So it was I met Tommy Lee Jones and all I got was this stupid cig butt.? Anyway I think we were both hooked up way better than could be expected.
